A fatal car crash in Detroit killed one child and injured five others Friday afternoon, police say.
The Detroit Police Department says that the crash occurred on W. 8 Mile Rd. near Cherrylawn at about 1:55 p.m.
Police say a 29-year-old male was headed eastbound accelerating at high speeds in a Dodge Challenger when he collided with a white Ford Escape. The driver of the Dodge Challenger then crashed into a building.
Two boys of the ages 2 and 4 and one 6-year-old girl were critically injured in the crash. The 2-year-old boy died because of his injuries. The children were all passengers in the Dodge Challenger. The Dodge Challenger driver is also at a local hospital and is critically injured.

The driver of the white Ford Escape is a 63-year-old woman. She is also currently in critical condition at a local hospital.
